Jenny Rissveds looks ahead

If we look at her achievements so far we find (expect for all international wins) national gold medals in XCO, XCE, Cyclocross, Downhill as well as in Track. Adding a few gold medals in the juniors national road races back in 2010 you understand it is not about what bike Jenny Rissveds is riding.

Jenny Rissveds had an outstanding 2015. Overall World Cup (U23) winner, third at the Olympic test-event in Rio, World Champions 3rd place, national gold medals in XCE, XCO (defending both from 2014 and 2013) and also cyclo-cross gold medal. Then you add Swe-Cup win along the way as well as an 8th place finish at European Games in Baku. Her list of achievements over the years is super impressive, not only 2015.

We had a chat with Jenny in the middle of the Christmas hassle.

What´s the feeling this far into your pre-season?

I’ve got a great feeling so far. I ride my mountainbike, tried in the velodrome, I go swimming, running and I do some gym training. I try to do a lot of different stuff as I believe that’s the best to keep your motivation level high.

When and where are you planning to start racing next season?

I’ll be racing in Milano in mid March and that race is going to be the race to start up my 2016 season.

European Championships in Sweden, ”home court”, next year. What´s your thoughts regarding that?

It’s amazing that Sweden is hosting such a big event as Europeans. I think it’s really cool to get the big international stars to come here and let them see our country and race on ”our” trails. Hopefully everyone will enjoy it and see potential in Sweden as a cycling nation.

Is there any in particular training sessions during this time of year that you prefer and ”like” more than other sessions?
At this time of the year it is not too important exactly what you are doing. The most important is that you are doing your training, both hard sessions and training sessions just for fun. From January on it’s going to be more important to do specific intervals in specific periods etc. But right now I just enjoy to go out and train hard but I also like to take a walk in the forest as recovery.

Not looking at results just overall is there any of 2015 races in particular that stick to you mind as the most fun? That you remember especially. And also why that is?

One race i remember as ”the best” was the Nove Mesto, Czech Republic, World Cup. I really love coming back to Nove Mesto to race, I’ve been there 3 or 4 times now. I liked the course, I had so much fun, I believed in myself and my skills and on top of that, I got the win.

Best of luck to Jenny Rissveds in 2016!
