Men Junior XCO – all about France and Switzerland

One of the largest start fields of the Championships of 75 riders had their go on the XCO-track. It was a Frence and Suiss story from start to end. Thomas Bonnet had an impressive win in front of Vital Albin and countryman Axel Zingle. Allez le bleu!

After the start loop al riders headed down towards Huskvarna in a large group. When they made the climb up the ski slope a quartet of riders, lead bya a French duo Thomas Bonnet and Axel Zingle, ahead of two Swiss Nick Burki and Vital Albin had created a gap. Together they made an effort in stretching the rest of the pack.

Out on the second lap there where a trio in lead made out by Bonnet, Albin and Zingle leaving Clément Champoussin and Nick Burki in an interesting fight for 4th place. In the climb up the ski slope Bonnet showed power and left a gap to Zingle who had a lead over Albin.

Bonnet kept the lead and showed in the climbs that he was rising to the top of the podium with a golden eye. During the 4th lap Vital squeezed past Zingle and in the last climb up the ski slope he looked back towards the beaten French who parked ad third place. Meanwhile another Swiss defeated a French as Burki took control over 4th position leaving Champoussin behind.
There where no doubt that Bonnet was the king of the race and he even afforded to cross the finish with raised arms and towards a blue sky.
