How far do you ride in one year?

In the midst of preseason there´s always talk about training hours, distances done, qualitative or quantity training and such. It is also the time to find motivation for racing again and just focusing on preparations to sustain the upcoming season. Then of course there is some people that never really stop for seasons, preseasons or resting.

One comparable thing between cyclist could be the amount of hours spent training or kilometers ridden in one year. There is of course less kilometers done by a mountainbiker compared to a road cyclist in a year and surely an elite rider is outnumbering most. You might not even be the one looking to deep into the training log but just for the sake of it let´s play with the numbers. Take the year where you ridden the most kilometers. Or take your best month (most kilometers) and take that times twelve. What is the number?

Is it close to 121,000 km during one year? Or are you close to doing 330 km every day for 365 days? Or maybe 9,751 km in one month?

No?

That´s the number you have to reach for to beat a really old record of most kilometers ridden during one year. Tommy Godwin is said to have ridden 120,805 km in 1939. However not recognized by Guinness book of records. Nobody has beaten that since then. There´s has been several attempts beating it. There´s several ongoing.

Right now we have Kurt Seavogel in the end of his challenge. Have a look at his ”spreadsheet” how he is doing. Steven Abraham had a go, although he crashed and broke his leg. Also the CycleDoctor Bruce Berkeley his giving it a go during 2016, maybe looking to beat Seavogels result? However Berkley already has the world record for one month and seven days of riding…  That is in one month 9,751km and the seven-day record 2,830km…

So now the question is who will beat the record using a mountainbike?
